Jaysek has been doing very well he has started nursing once a day and seems to like it.

Jensyn sucking on her hand that is a very good sign that she is ready to start nursing.

Jensyn receiving a pep talk from dad. I've got to get them in now while she has no choice but listen.

Jensyn getting her first echo sound.

Jensyn has gotten a little of her dads short comings. The nurses noticed a heart murmur so an echo sound was ordered. A good thing about being across the street from Children's is that the University uses Children's cardiologist to review their ultrasounds. The results were mixed. She does have a small hole in her heart but unlike her father it is between her atrial not the ventricles (I have a VSD http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11066 and she has a ASD http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=11065). It is a very small hole and it is very common for babies to have these. Evan thou it is a little bigger than normal there is a good chance that it will grow shut and if it doesn't it's not necessarily a bad thing. There are lots of people that have this defect and are just fine. The Dr's sounded very positive about it and are not worried about it at all. To the point that the next time they are going to check it will be in six months.

Benefit

To those of you who didn't know, on April 26th some friends of ours from Palisade hosted a benefit for us in Wauneta. It was a very humbling act for us. The event included an Indian taco\sopaipilla feed and an auction. They rounded up all kinds of donations for the auction and matching funds from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Modern Woodmen of America. The funds that were raised was way more than what anyone had expected. They raised around $22000.
Karla, Derek and Kari manning the bid number table.

The two pregnant ladies Sarah and Nicole taking money at the door. Notice the brown chicken and brown cows on the shirts.

The kitchen Crew.

Look at all the food that was prepared.

The food was so good Rex had to use multiple plates.

Marilyn, Russell and Jerry taking a break before the show starts.

Rodney, Derek and Russell running the auction

The amount of donations and people that attended the event was very over whelming. The Brown Chicken Brown Cow crew did an unbelievable job. THANK YOU to everyone.

As a run of bad luck Jensyn's big IV went bad so she got one in her head again. It was just a couple days and now she is completely off her IV's

Great grandma Sharon rode along with Jaime last week for a couple days.

Jensyn taking a peek out.

Jaysek is doing well enough that they moved him out of his incubator and into a bassinet.

4/18, 4/19 & 4/20

Friday after an x-ray and blood work that came back normal Jensyn got to be started back on milk but real slow. Seeing no signs of infection they stopped her antibiotics as well. So far she seems to be doing very well.
This is the x-ray machine they roll it right up to the bed. It's nice that they don't have to move the baby to another room.

Our poor little girl. They had to move her IV so they could put a bigger more permanent one in her arm or leg. Not knowing where they wanted to put the big one they put one in her head. It looks very bad but it is one of the best places to put an IV. It doesn't get bumped or pulled on like one in the arm or leg and there are less nerve endings so it doesn't hurt as bad. It only lasted a day and by Saturday morning it was gone. On Friday though, I called her Pebbles because it looked like she had a bone in her hair(neither Jensyn nor Jaime found it amusing).

Aunt Raenelle flew in for the weekend and was very excited to get to see and hold the little ones.

Grandpa Don came out to visit for a couple days.

To be honest with you I don't know if I've ever seen my father so excited in my life as he has been about these babies. It is quite a sight to see him wound up like this.

On Saturday we were allowed to give Jaysek a bath. We were given a little instruction by one of the kids main nurses, Veronica.

Um, I don't know what's going on, but I think I like it.

A little scrub a dub dub.

OOOHMMMMM!!!

Are we done yet?

Ooh that warm towel feels good.

Look at how big Jaysek's hands are.

Mom likes Jaysek's new outfit.

Jensyn taking a nap right before she gets her first sponge bath.

Hey mom that's wet.

I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair.

2 weeks 1 day 4/17

Well a lot has happened since I posted last. They are both gaining weight very well Jensyn is up to 3 lb 5 oz and Jaysek is 3 lb 14 oz. When they reach 4 lb they will be removed from the incubator and placed in a bassinet. Jaysek is tolerating food well enough that today they removed his IV and is getting all of his nourishment from milk. Jensyn hasn't been as fortunate with her feeds. Yesterday they suspended feeds and started giving her some antibiotics. She has been showing signs of having an infection in her intestine. They have ran multiple tests and have taken a couple x-rays. If the test come back negative tomorrow they will start her back on her feeds.

Great grandpa and grandma Walgren finally got to come visit the little ones.

Great aunt Alice and Grandma Kathy checking out Jaysek

Grandpa Rex and Jaime looking in on Jensyn.
No thanks grandma I don't want the paci my thumb is working just fine.

Rex and Dr. Weiss agree that it is the best ever baby under the cover.

Dad do you see what this nurse is doing to your little girl???

They started dressing the kids. Jaime thinks it's cute. I think they have the rest of there lives to wear cloths, I say go naked as long as you can.

Jensyn looks pretty happy in her mothers arms.

What up my homeys?
