The NICU Party

The weekend of August 2nd, we made the trip back to Denver to attend the NICU(Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) party. Every year the nurses in the University of Colorado Hospital NICU put on a "Preemie" Party. They send invitations to every child that has been in the NICU over the past 20 some years. It's an event which allows the nurses to see the little ones that they have cared for over the years all grown up. It was great to see all the kids running and playing knowing that most of them had a rough start in the NICU.

Here is a picture of the picnic in the park near the hospital. You can't really tell from this picture but there were hundreds of parents, kids, nurses, and doctors at the picnic.
There was all sorts of activities for the kids to do. One of them was the big bouncy house you see in the background. They also had lots of games for the older kids to play.
They also had this fun train for the kids to ride in. I don't think it stopped the entire time we were there. The kids at the party seemed to love it.
One of the kids' favorite things at the party was this crazy guy. He had all sorts of snakes and spiders that he took out and showed the kids. I don't know if you can see it or not, but there is a snake crawling out of his shirt. YUK!!!
While we were at the party, we got to see several of the twins nurses. Here is one their primary nurses Veronica holding Jaysek.
Here is Veronica holding Jensyn. She was very excited to see how big the twins have gotten.

Here is another of our primary nurses, Janet. She couldn't believe how great the kids looked and how much they have grown. All of the nurses are looking forward to seeing the kids at next years party!! I guess that means we have to go! :)

Miss Jensyn looking cute in her lady bug outfit and hat.

Mr. Jaysek stylin in his cute floppy hat.

July

Sorry that it has been so long since we have posted. Things have been busy around our house. These are some fun pics from the month of July.

Daddy was taking the laundry down stairs and thought maybe Jensyn would like to "ride" along. She seemed to enjoy her ride.

This is Jaysek taking a nap one morning. We're not real sure how the paci landed on his cheek.

Jeremy, Jen, Weston, and Jaylea stopped by one afternoon. Weston thought he wanted to hold Jaysek. He did a good job(with a little help).

Miss Jaylea has learned to crawl and climb! She was climbing in the twins bouncy seats like they were a jungle gym.

When the mom is away, the kids will play

While mom was at a Hand Bag party spending the kids college fund on another personalized hand bag, Dad and the kids had some fun dad style.

First of all I taught them how to play poker. I did have a little trouble keeping Jensyn's attention thou.

Look at Jaysek's poker face, I think he is a natural.

Then Jaysek an I shared a cigar.

Once again what a natural.

Fourth of July

We spent the Fourth of July at Russel and Karla McCorkle's. We had a GREAT time. There was wonderful food, good friends, and AWESOME fireworks. Thanks for a terrific 4th!!!
Everyone was trying to find a shady spot to sit.
Russ and Hank working on cooking the food.
Nicole with Jensyn and Jaime with Jaysek just hanging out in the shade.
Jaime with Jensyn and Nicole with Krayton watching the fireworks.
Jaysek hung out with Shad during the fireworks.
Thanks Shad and Nicole for helping mom with us while dad helped with fireworks.
We had fun!! Jensyn hung out with mom during the fireworks. Jensyn and Jaysek both loved the fireworks. They stared at the sky the entire time and barely even jumped at the noise.

This is a picture of one of the fireworks and everyone in the crowd with their red, white, and blue glow necklaces. Thanks again Russel and Karla for a great time!!

WE'RE GETTING BIG!!!!! When we went to the Dr. yesterday. Jaysek weighed 9# 15 oz and was 21.5 inches long. He is becoming more interactive and starting to coo and react to things around him.
Jensyn weighed 7# 15 oz and was 20.75 inches long. She is doing great. We think she is finally getting along with her formula and starting to put on more weight. She has a great appetite and eats more than her brother most of the time.
